Who's Alexa?

I am Alexa Singer and I am running for the Marblehead Board of Selectmen.

  • Long history of dedication to the people of Marblehead.
  • Proven track record of collaboration, problem solving and inspiring leadership.
  • A professional skill set - problem solving, finance, grant development, managing government regulations - that lends itself to making things happen for the people of Marblehead.
I am a tenured professor, Department Chair and Chief Pilot, for North Shore Community College's Aviation Management and Professional Pilot degree programs. I have experience in complex problem solving, federal and state regulations, hiring and recruitment, union negotiations and contracts, pensions, education, small business, finance, and government grants. I worked my way up through several barriers to fly as a professional airline pilot before becoming the first female Chief Pilot of a collegiate pilot program in Massachusetts. When I was growing up, my mom always said “never argue for your limitations, find your path and make a difference”.

I have been a Marblehead resident for over 20 years raising my 2 daughters (and 2 dogs and a cat!) with my husband Neil who grew up in town. I come from a family of volunteers. My brothers are actively engaged in youth sports and my father served as a selectman in New Hampshire. I have devoted years of my life to serving the people of Marblehead in many different capacities. I have served as secretary, vice-president, and president of MHD PTOs/PCOs since 2012. I collaborated on projects with the Marblehead Police Department and served on the Marblehead Public Schools Building Facilities Committee to develop a master plan for building maintenance. I served as a coach, Vice-President, and Technical Director for the Marblehead Youth Soccer program (MYSA) for over 10 years serving hundreds of Marblehead youth. I have served as a coach for the Marblehead Community Center basketball league as well as the Odyssey of the Mind Community Center educational program. I worked for the Marblehead YMCA as a fitness instructor and volunteer for over 12 years. In 2015, I started the Marblehead Youth Triathlon team to encourage Marblehead youth to participate in their first triathlon and to spearhead a lifelong love of outside swimming, biking, and running. You will find me all over town.

I adore this town and have embraced Marblehead and treasure it as my home just as my large extended family who all live here. I am deeply committed to my family, friends, neighbors, and the people of Marblehead.

It is a priority to support a system where the community has a chance to share input. I will work for inclusiveness and accountability. Accordingly, I will make myself accessible as often as possible. I want to engage with all Marbleheaders so we all feel ownership and an empowered voice in our home. I condemn bullying and harassment of any kind. True leaders have the ability to get others to move forward and energize others to work together. I have a long history of inspiring leadership and I will bring a perspective of openness and I am excited for this opportunity. I believe the purpose of volunteer service is to help improve the lives of those around you.

I will work for the people of Marblehead to address multiple municipal issues in a fair, respectful, and unbiased manner. I will do my homework and listen first as my opinion is just but one. I have a commitment to collaboration with the joint goal of enhancing Marblehead and fulfilling the role of a selectman.

Vote Alexa Singer.

Thank you.
